What PAP+ Does That Peroxide Cannot

The clinical difference matters and I want to be precise about it.

Hydrogen peroxide whitens by oxidising stain molecules, but the oxidation process does not stop cleanly at the stain. The free radicals produced can penetrate through enamel into the dentine layer, where the nerve endings are. This is the mechanism behind post-whitening sensitivity. The higher the peroxide concentration, the higher the sensitivity risk.

PAP+ uses a targeted enzymatic mechanism. It oxidises the chromophores, the colour-carrying molecules, in the stain without producing the diffuse free radical activity that reaches the nerve. The whitening happens at the stain level, not through the tooth.

If you have crowns, veneers, or composite bonding on your front teeth, whitening agents work only on natural tooth structure. The strips will whiten your natural teeth and leave the restorations unchanged. If your restorations are already a bright shade, this may not matter. If there is a significant shade difference, speak to your dentist before starting.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult your doctor first as a general precaution with any oral care product.
